To help people understand if they need digital marketing and let people be their own judge on how hard it is to do digital marketing.
This is no secret in the marketing industry. I am trying to raise awareness for digital marketing, so that I can get business opportunities for whatever service I can provide. It could be photography, or content writing, or even just consultation. But the main goal, is to get these business on my terms.
So… Why am I teaching people to do what I do then? Wouldn’t they pick it up themselves and no longer need me to provide the service?
Because people (usually) have to go through the same pain to empathize with others.
I am genuinely happy for those who tried my guides, found it simple and subsequently roll it out in their marketing efforts to generate results! (Please give me a shout out) However, there will be many who finds it a hassle or difficult to execute these marketing efforts despite the guides. So these group of people will feel the pain and come to perceive a higher value of what we (digital marketers) do.
Now that they recognize what they need and know the value of the work to get what they need, they will be willing to spend.
At this juncture, I should ideally be generating inbound leads. Meaning people will come to me with their needs, instead of me having to do the outreach.
A typical sales funnel would look like this for digital marketing services.
- Learning about digital marketing
- Recognize the need for digital marketing
- Tries to do digital marketing
- Outsource the digital marketing work when results are not generated
Sometimes, people may jump from step 2 to step 4 because they are convinced that digital marketing is a something that they need but recognize it is not something they want/is able to do. That or they believe they can generate more results by focusing on what they are good at and outsourcing the digital marketing work to others.
The pros and cons.
The greatest benefit from adopting this marketing strategy is that the leads generated are inbound leads.
- Inbound Leads – They contact you
- Outbound Leads – You contact them
Inbound leads are typically qualified leads that will benefit from the product/service and have the intention to buy it. Outbound leads on the other hand, requires a lot of persuasive education and a subsequent round of convincing to get them to buy the product/service.
*If you think about it – the part in bold above is done by the website for this strategy; automation.
The drawbacks to this strategy is the generation of inconsistent leads and possibility of exposing some of your trade secrets.
Basically, I write free content in hopes to attract leads.
This is basically it. Asides from using this website as my portfolio, I thought it would be good to display my domain knowledge and provide my services to people who need it. To earn some side income 😉
