The numbers consist of both the country code and the contact number.

Replace the first two numbers with the correct country code if the number is not from Singapore. The first two numbers now are 65, which is the country code for Singapore. Then enter the contact number after the country code.

Everything should be intuitive from here onwards.

Why Whatsapp without saving number

For short term contact purposes, no desire to save the other party’s number into your contacts, or you simply find it a hassle to create a contact whenever you want to Whatsapp someone.

Whatsapp’s standard practice is for their users to save the other party’s number into their contacts on their mobile phone, to send a Whatsapp message to the other party. But you’d probably know this already if you are here.

This is unlike your normal text messaging or short messaging service (SMS), which allows you to send a message to particular numbers without prior saving of number into your contacts.

You still need a phone number for Whatsapp

While you can initiate a Whatsapp conversation without saving the number, please bear in mind that you still need a phone number to use Whatsapp.

I believe most of us possess a phone number, so this shouldn’t really post an issue.

However, I strongly suggest you to get a separate number for business or marketing purposes. And use Whatsapp Business application for that purpose.
